The Roundabouts

1st XI thump Disley to go top

After no league action for a fortnight Chelford 1st XI were glad to be playing at home. Chelford won the toss and with sporadic showers in the air decided to bat.

On a seaming pitch Disley broke through in only the second over.  N.Srivastava joined C.Fenn at the crease and they added 45 in 9 overs before Srivastava holed out for a breezy 33.  With the score on 53 skipper H.Vora came to the wicket and added 46 before Fenny perished for a solid 34.  On a seaming pitch Chelford continued to score freely for the rest of the innings.Cameo’s from Z.Khan 18 and H.jeanes 14n.o. gave good support to skipper Vora who scored a magnificent 88 n.o. from just 94 balls including 13 fours and 1 six, taking Chelford to 214-7.

In reply, Disley started in shambolic fashion losing wickets from the outset.  M.Shallcross and K.Bhardwa never gave them a sniff , and with good catching from Srivastava , Fenn , Vora and Jeanes Disley were reduced to 3-7.  With both bowlers on a hatrick were Chelford about to re-write the record books?  Unfortunately not, but even so Disley succumbed for just 22a/out, M.shallcross 6-7 the pick of the bowlers but K.Bhardwa not far behind with 4-15.Excellent performance Chelford win by 192 runs and collect 25 points , more of the same next week please! weather permitting!
