Chelford made the short trip to Wellbank Lane looking to make it 5 wins on the run taking them a step closer to promotion. Over peover won the toss and had no hesitation in asking Chelford to bat first. C.Fenn and M.Dickenson made a bright start taking the score to 28 before Dickenson drilled one straight to mid-off. N.Srivastava joined Fenn and runs came easily as A.Ingargiola struggled going for 48 from 8 overs. Fenn fell for 37 with the score on 80 but the runs kept coming until Srivastava 40 became M.Nightingale’s 3rd victim leaving Chelford on 109-3.
Nightingale was now partnered by M.Tucker and the runs dried up and control went back to Over Peover . Tucker grabbed a couple of wickets and aided by a couple of run outs the score soon reached 127-8 , Nightingale completed the mayhem bowling Chelford out for 130 finishing with 6-46 from 20.3 overs, Tucker 2-32 from 14 overs .
Having bowled Chelford out Over Peover now had 47 overs to score 131, although this looks easy on paper having lost their last 3 games Chelford believed early wickets would give them a good chance. Early wickets didn’t come but neither did runs openers M.Shallcross and Z.Khan giving very little away , after 10 overs the score 15-0 . In the 12th over Khan made the breakthrough bowling N.Goldstraw for 5 the score 16-1 . Over Peover then gave Chelford a boost with 2 run outs taking the score to 29-3 . T.Bale joined J.Bodimeade at the crease and this pair steadied the innings taking the score to 59-3 from 23 overs at drinks.
Immediately after the resumption Bale fell to Khan bringing A.Ingargiola to the crease , Chelford squandered several chances as the runs started to flow but with the score on 109 Bodimeade played one shot to many stumped by S.Oliver aff Khan for 49. M.Tucker strode to the crease hitting his first ball for 4 and alongside Ingargiola looked to take the fight to Chelford. The introduction of K.Bhardwa changed that dismissing Tucker for 8 in his first over Over Peover now 123-6, N.Srivastava at the other end had already had several chances missed and with the batsman starting to panic went after them bowling a double wicket maiden 123-8 including the wicket of Ingargiola caught on the boundary for a fiesty 36. Another wicket for Srivastava and only 2 runs coming of Bhardwa saw Over Peover enter the last over needing 5 to win with only 1 wicket standing.
M.Nightingale could only manage a single leaving number 11 N.Mills on strike, 3 balls to go 4 required, Mills went for it but missed bowled by Srivastava Over Peover 127 allout. Srivastava took 4-27 from 12.4 overs taking Chelford to victory , Khan 3-55 from 19 , Bhardwa 1-2 and Shallcross a miserly 0-19 from11 . Chelford take 25 points and with Over Peover 100 points behind in 3rd position Chelford are assured promotion , but will have to battle it out with Langley for the title .
