Ones beat Langley by 10 wickets to seal Championship

Chelford welcomed Langley to Peover Lane for  a much anticipated top of the table clash. Chelford having won 6 from 6 were full of confidence and Langley, 65 points adrift, were looking for a miracle.

Langley won the toss and chose to bat first, they came out all guns blazing but on a soft pitch soon found themselves deep in trouble. M.Shallcross was relentless as ever giving nothing away and his opening partner D.Fenn reaped the early rewards. Their opening spell scything through the top order leaving Langley 38-7 after 16 overs.

A.Berzins hit a quick 10 but the introduction of Z.Khan and a stunning ct&bowled brought the 8th wicket. D.Jacklin and S.Patterson stopped the steady flow of wickets batting for 14 overs. With the score on 63 Patterson was trapped L.B.W and Jacklin trying to break free also fell leaving Langley 63 all out. Chelford were excellent in the field, D.Fenn the pick of the bowlers with 5-29,M.Shallcross 2-16, Z.Khan 2-9, K.Bhardwa 1-5.

In reply Langleys opening bowlers M.Betteridge and B.Cook caused plenty of problems early on but Chelfords openers C.Fenn and M.Dickenson stood firm, batting seemed to get easier and Chelford wrapped up an emphatic 10 wicket victory in the 16th over.C.Fenn 37n.o. and M.Dickenson 21n.o.Chelford 25 points crowned champions with 2 weeks to go.

Langley although well beaten were gracious in defeat so goodluck to them for the next two weeks. Next week Chelford travel to Disley already champions but work still to be done.

Well done Lads. Congratulations for being the Champions, Great team work and well deserved. Must say “CRICKETING GOD IS WITH US AGAIN”, Last time we played them in Alliance they were 48 all out, this time 63 all out. Slight improvement, Good luck for rest two games.
